I think Warlick must have been a fly on the wall of our SPHS literacy meeting last week. So much of our discussion about literacy and instructional techniques assumed that kids are given a piece of reading. While this is sometimes true and a good way to focus learning, real lifelong learning needs to prepare students to find and evaluate information independently or we are missing the boat.
